Teaching Opportunities - First City Art Center

Ceramic Program

Inquire about becoming a ceramics instructors at FCAC! We offer ongoing beginner-advanced six week wheel throwing, hand-building, and sculpture classes for adults. In addition to the six week classes, FCAC also offers special workshops which focus on specific techniques.

Adult Art Classes

FCAC accepts proposals on a rolling basis for new adult classes and workshops. Classes may range from traditional drawing and painting classes to jewelry making and textiles.

Youth Art Program

We are excited to expand our youth art programs thanks to an IMPACT 100 grant which has allowed us to build a new classroom. FCAC is currently seeking youth art instructors for:

2024 Creatisphere Summer Camp Teachers and Volunteers
Medium Specific Classes for Teens- Digital Art, Drawing, Painting, Sewing, Mixed Media, and Photography

Warm Glass Classes

Our Warm Glass Studio is currently undergoing renovations, but we will take class proposals for Kiln Formed, Stained Glass, and Flameworked Glass classes as we prepare the building to host classes again.

Hot Glass Classes

We are looking for instructors for our Hot Glass Studio Classes. We have previously hosted a variety of classes – currently we are looking to restart basic instruction in our Hot Glass Studio: Introduction to Glass Blowing (https://www.firstcityart.org/product/beginning-glassblowing/), a four-session (14 hour) course which teaches a team of 2 students what it takes to be a glassblower and our 1 Day Hot Glass Fundamentals (https://www.firstcityart.org/product/hot-glass-fundamentals/), a 3-hour class where class students learn the basic skills of gathering and manipulating molten glass and create solid objects (paperweights or flowers) to take home from the experience.
