PechaKucha Night Vol. 12: “Chance”

PechaKucha Night takes a Chance with six exciting speakers

PechaKucha Night (PKN) Pensacola returns with a serendipitous mix of community members blending exciting outlooks and powerful images to explore the theme of “Chance” through this fun, fast presentation style.

PKN will host Volume 12 on Saturday, May 26, 2018, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at First City Art Center ─ 1060 N. Guillemard Street. The night is complete with food and live music!

As a theme, “Chance” brings an opportunity to evoke big ideas and stimulating conversations. Featured presenters include:

  • Jamey Jones, poet laureate of Northwest Florida
  • Rachael Pongetti, Pensacola Graffiti Bridge Project owner & head photographer
  • Jennifer McCarthy, author
  • Ian Be, musician
  • Kasey Jones, WSRE-TV station administrative coordinator
  • Tris Weeks, musician & youth ambassador for the Tyler Robinson Foundation

PKN is family friendly, open to the public and free—however, donations are always appreciated.

This event connects people from all walks of life to discuss concepts that impact the community. Known as the art of concise presentation, the PKN 20×20 format consists of 20 slides at 20 seconds each, keeping the total presentation time to less than 7 minutes each. PKN will include drinks, food, and live music throughout the evening. Several intermissions known as “beer breaks” are designed to promote reflection of the presentations and conversation between spectators.

Unlike other presentation formats, PKN is specifically designed to reach communities. “TED is top-down, PechaKucha is bottom up,” said Felipe Muñoz, co-organizer. “It’s more informal. It’s more open. It goes from the concept of ‘everyone has a story.’”
