October Campus Updates

Many of us are still in the process of recovering from the strong category two hurricane that made landfall in our community a couple weeks ago. We hope all of you, and your loved ones were able to weather Hurricane Sally safely, and with minimal damage.

Despite our best preparations, First City Art Center still had flooding in a couple of classrooms and our truck was also flooded, but thankfully only experienced a brief pause in classes. Please know that we are still here to provide you with a creative outlet in a fun, artistic atmosphere. We are a resilient community and we will survive this too. We are grateful to be back up and running again, and we are busy preparing for the Pumpkin Patch!

FCAC continues to follow all current CDC guidelines, and face coverings requirements issued by the City. At this time, the office and campus remain closed to visitors. Students, teachers, those picking up pre-ordered ceramic supplies, or using studio spaces may access the campus. We appreciate you all for helping the community stay safe and healthy!

Pumpkin Patch 2020 will be hosted at Blue Wahoos Stadium, on Saturday, October 17th from 2-7pm, and is free and open to the public!
Full details for Pumpkin Patch 2020 can be found here!

We’d like to thank the volunteers that helped us with hurricane cleanup, and all the volunteers that have already signed up to help with our largest annual fundraiser, the 14th Annual Pumpkin Patch! Volunteers are still needed for Pumpkin Patch, October 12th-18th!  Volunteer positions range from helping to transport pumpkins to/from the stadium, table decorating, line management, pumpkin wrapping, tag removal, end of event break-down and more! See the full list of volunteer positions and sign up here!

We will be partnering with Manna Food Pantries to host a food drive at Pumpkin Patch 2020, and we encourage attendees to bring non-perishable food items to donate! A full bag of donations will get you entered into the raffle for a FCAC gift basket!

We’ve also partnered with Manna, Pensacola State College, and many local businesses to help support Manna’s #HungerStopsHere campaign. Local potters from FCAC and PSC have handcrafted one-of-a-kind bowls that are for sale at a wide variety of local businesses through October 22nd, and include unique products or gift cards from each business. Bowls are $40, and each bowl purchased provides (24!) meals for our neighbors in need.

Ceramics classes are now in session with a reduced number of students in each class, and the last session of classes for 2020 begins November 2nd.

If you’re not currently enrolled in a ceramics class, but are interested in a weekly firing package or renting time in our IMPACT100 Throwing Studio, we’re offering new options and an easy way to schedule online.

The last session of Creative Painting for 2020 begins Saturday, November 7th. Full details and registration can be found here!
