Creating with Clay Classes are offered the 2nd Saturday of the month, 10 a.m. -12 p.m. or 1 p.m.-3 p.m.
Saturday Morning Art Classes (SMAC) are perfect for beginners, all ages and abilities are welcome.
This fun mini-workshop provides an opportunity for friends and family to participate together in the art making process and to try out a new art medium.
Please note- this is a mixed age class, children and adults.
Preregistration ($18) is required to secure your space in the class. Prepayment is required for registration.
SMAC: Creating with Clay
Projects include functional vessels, and items such as bowls, cups, boxes with lids, birdhouses and boats. Clay and use of tools included.
This class will use air-dry clay and pieces can be taken home the day of the class. Once the pieces dry out completely after a week or two (depending on humidity), they can be painted with acrylic paints!
Please note: finished projects are for decorative use only, they are not food-safe or dishwasher-safe.
Classroom Location: SMAC classes are held in the Youth Art Program Classroom. When entering the parking lot from De Soto street, the classroom is to your immediate right. Look for the colorful geometric mural!
About the Instructor
Suzanne has been an art instructor over forty years and was part of the team that created the Youth Art Program (YAP) at FCAC. She is also a member of Art Beyond Walls, a FCAC group with a mission to enhance the community through public art. She loves to sew, draw, paint and work in mixed media. She believes art provides many avenues of development for children of all ages and should be fun.
Suzanne has a diverse creative background working in a public schools, arts centers, as a newspaper photographer, working at a manufacturing company, and owning a wearable art boutique.
Since 2013 Suzanne has taught art for the Pensacola Museum of Art’s outreach program working with the Pace Center for Girls and Teen Art Camp. Since 2015, she has been an art instructor for Creatisphere Summer Art Camp, and the Homeschool & Afterschool Art program at First City Art Center.

Students will receive a refund of tuition minus 10% if the student contacts us no later than 7 days prior to the first day of class. Cancellations up to 48 hours before the start of the class will receive a 50% refund. Any cancellations within 48 hours before the start of the class, or after the class has begun will not be refunded. In the case of an emergency, the student may be able to transfer their payment towards another class based on availability.
Class sizes are limited and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, FCAC is unable to prorate students for missed classes or classes that they are unable to attend.
