Week-long camps will be offered June 1st- August 7th, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

COVID-19: We are closely monitoring the recommendations of local, state, and federal health authorities. If/when camp is running, class size will be reduced to 6-8 students. The campers will create in the same classroom each day to limit shared use of space, and interactions with other students. If your child cannot attend camp due to FCAC cancellation, or your precautions, you will be refunded the full or prorated tuition minus the processing fee.

In response to financial hardship that many families are facing at this time we are extending the early bird price for the full summer. Creatisphere Summer Camp

This dynamic program includes hands-on classes in pottery, drawing, sculpture, collage, glass blowing, 3-D design, mixed media, painting, printmaking, kiln-forming, textiles and more.

The themes each week are different offering hands-on art projects that incorporate STEAM, history, conservation, world cultures, yoga, games and more! Full camp schedule and themes are below.                      

The classroom features choice-based learning centers to encourage participants to direct their creativity independently after finishing projects. If the weather permits, campers can work outside under the shady trees in front of the YAP Classroom – optional, of course!

Early drop-off 8 a.m., and extended care 5 p.m., is available. It is $5 per morning or afternoon, or $30 for the full week.

Bold Botanicals  : Inspired by plants, flowers and insects, campers draw from observation. Then “dig in,” learning about symmetry and patterns to create a variety of mixed media projects. If weather permits, the students will take a field-trip to the From the Ground Up Garden to investigate, explore, and draw the many plant varieties in the garden. Projects will cover a variety of media from drawing to sculpture!

Sketch it!: Each day includes warm-up journal exercises that work in tandem with projects reinforcing and strengthening foundation drawing skills.

Pottery Studio: In this class, campers learn how to use tools and techniques to create low-relief sculptures and handbuilt pottery pieces.

Glass Experience: Campers learn about glass artists and processes in this class; guided by the instructor students create a hands-on glass object of their own!

June 8th-12th– Camp is Full

Inventor’s Workshop: Do you have what it takes to innovate? Can you evaluate a product and then turn it into something new and improved? Try your hand at the creative world of engineering innovations. Full Day Camp in Partnership with First City Art Center.

Pottery Studio: In this class, campers learn how to use tools and techniques to create low-relief sculptures and handbuilt pottery pieces.

June 15th-19th- Camp is Full

Messlandia: Inspired by the Newberry Awardwinning book Weslandia, campers will explore creating their own world using everyday and natural materials. This camp focuses on creative thinking and general merriment. We’ve partnered with First City Arts for a full day camp. Half the day will be spent at the MESS Hall with the other half of the day at First City Art Center.

Ancient Art and Mythology: During this fun and fantastical week campers learn about ancient Greece and Egypt architecture, and mythology! Projects will cover a variety of media from drawing to sculpture!

Florida’s Flora and Fauna: From the Gulf of Mexico to estuaries and crystal clear springs, campers will explore Florida’s ecosystems and learn about the species who inhabit them. Projects will cover a variety of media from drawing to sculpture!

Creative Comics and Cartoons: Campers develop their own comic book or cartoon character inspired by myth, fables, Marvel,  or D.C. characters. They then bring the character to life through sketches, clay models, and a shoe-box diorama. Projects will cover a variety of media from drawing to sculpture!

Beyond the Canvas: Inspired by Public Art and Murals, campers will create projects using mixed media, assemblage, stencils, spray paint, and other 3-D techniques. Campers will explore the murals at FCAC and the sculptures in the Art Park adjacent to the FCAC campus. Working as a team, the campers will design and create a collaborative art piece that will become part of FCAC’s art-scape. Projects will cover a variety of media from drawing to sculpture!

Remarkable Rainforest: This week campers will learn about the diverse ecosystems of the Rainforest and create projects inspired by the reptiles and animals that live there. Projects will cover a variety of media from drawing to sculpture!

Sky, Space and beyond:  From the Earth’s atmosphere to the vastness of outer space, campers learn about perspective and create landscapes both real and fantasy. Campers will also conduct fun experiments! Projects will cover a variety of media from drawing to sculpture!

August 3rd-7thSIGN UP

ART Rocks:  This STEAM based camp combines art and music! Create instruments, mini sets, fun props, and costumes that can be used for a pop-up performance show on Friday. Projects will cover a variety of media from drawing to sculpture!

Requirements

  • Please send your child with 2 snacks, lunch, and a refillable (non-throw away) water bottle. 

Notes

  • All supplies are included.
  • Creatisphere is designed for children age 6-11.
  • If you or your child has a yoga mat, please send it to camp.

Cancellation Policy

Students will receive a refund of tuition minus 10% if the student contacts us no later than 7 days prior to the first day of class. Cancellations up to 48 hours before the start of the class will receive a 50% refund. Any cancellations within 48 hours before the start of the class, or after the class has begun will not be refunded. In the case of an emergency, the student may be able to transfer their payment towards another class based on availability.

Class sizes are limited and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, FCAC is unable to prorate students for missed classes or classes that they are unable to attend.
