First City Art Center provides educational opportunities for artists and the community, while contributing to the overall development of artistic and cultural growth in Pensacola and the Gulf Coast!

Field Trip Program

We are currently accepting Field Trip Requests for 2025 Spring and Fall

What to expect:

  • A glassblowing demonstration
  • A hands-on clay project
  • A Gallery Tour
  • Schools have the option to bring lunch for students to enjoy on campus or at the Long Hollow Community Art Park

Gallery 1060: The gallery does have studios with working artists that students may have the opportunity to engage with or respectfully observe with a First City Art Center staff member and chaperone supervision. They will learn about gallery etiquette and engage in discussion to further understand how they relate to different types of artwork. Please check mark this option when booking the field-trip.

Project: Students will make a hand-built clay object. There is the option of air dry clay to be taken home the same day or kiln fired clay to be picked up at a later date after it has been fired in our kiln.

Students: Field trip minimum is 25 students with a maximum of 75 students in one day. For any visits with a number of students outside of this range please email Raylene create@firstcityart.org to request more information.

Chaperones: A minimum of one chaperone for every ten students is required.

Schedule: To schedule, please submit the online form below. After receiving the form we will contact you to confirm a date and arrange payment of the deposit. Field Trips are not confirmed until we receive a deposit.

Cost: The cost is $8.00 per student. Alternate packages and scholarships may be available if financing is an issue, please email Raylene, create@firstcityart.org to request more information.

Deposit: A minimum $100 deposit is required to reserve your appointment, which will be applied toward the total balance based on the number of students planning to be attendance given the Monday before the field trip. No-shows will forfeit their deposit, cancellations up to 24 hours in advance will receive a refund of their deposit minus a 10% processing fee. To reschedule a field trip, please call our office (850) 429-1222 at least 48 hours in advance, and we may be able to move your appointment (based on availability) without a processing fee.

Field-trip / Pottery Badge Class Request

  • Per trip our minimum is 25 and our maximum is 60. If there are less than 25 you may be able to join another field trip. If there are more than 60 the field trip may need to split between two dates.

Kiln fired clay is clay that must be left with us and fired in our kilns to be picked up at a later date. This clay is more durable and not susceptible to moisture.

Air dry clay can be sculpted and brought home the same day. Air dry clay is more brittle and should not be exposed to moisture. Teachers/chaperones should note that these will not be dry by the end of the field trip and should plan to bring something to transport the projects in.

  • Date and Time Request

Please Only Select Up To 3 Dates. Note All Field Trips Are Only Available on Fridays.

  • Cancellation Policy/ Deposit

A $100 deposit is required to reserve a field-trip, which will be applied to the total balance based on the number of students attending on the day of your visit.

You will be contacted for the deposit after the date is confirmed available.

If your school/group is attending multiple days, we only require a one time $100 deposit.

No-shows will forfeit their deposit, cancellations up to 24 hours in advance will receive a refund of their deposit minus a 10% processing fee.
